The Canarian Archipelago Tenerife
Canary Islands are amazing volcanic islands located in the Atlantic Ocean, close to Morocco. The place is considered to be the paradise for tourism. There are eight main islands in the Canaries and each and everyone of them has something outstanding. This article will give you interesting and relevant snippets of information regarding each island.
Fuerteventura is the flattest and the oldest of the islands. The name literally means strong wind and it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Here, the sand is golden and the waters have a beautiful turquoise nuance. The native inhabitants are called majorero/-a.

Lanzarote is the best place in the world for sports because everyone is in good shape and you will actually feel encouraged to be more active. Also, for all the scuba divers out there, Lanzarote has an amazing underwater museum, where you can actually admire human shaped statues. The natives of Lanzarote are called lanzaroteño/-a.

La Graciosa is the youngest of all the islands. There are no cars on La Graciosa, your best way to travel around is by using a bike. Also, the place is paradise for trail runners because you have plenty of paths to lead you to beautiful sceneries.

Gran Canaria is still in business when it comes to sugar cane – and if you have sugar cane, you have rum. Gran Canaria is a great place in Europe to enjoy a local homemade mojito. Also, it is the only place in Europe where you can see coffee plantations. Locals on the island are called canario/-a.

Tenerife is the most popular island of them all. Here you can find the largest lava tube in Europe called La Cueva del Viento. The locals really like to party, that is why here you can take part in the second biggest carnival in the world, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The local people are called tinerfeño/-a.

La Gomera is especially interesting because the locals have been speaking a whistled speech since ancient times. Because of the notched landscape, it was quite hard to build roads so the island has hundreds of kilometers of trails suitable for adventurous hikers. La Gomera is also known as the island of treasures and maybe you should go there to find out why.
El Hierro is such an example for everyone because it is a leader in sustainability. The energy used there is 100% renewable. Also, on the island, you can still find living specimens of giant lizards, once considered extinct. In the old times, people used to believe that this was the westernmost point of the world, the reason behind being called Meridian Island.
La Palma is a must go to place for astronomy lovers because it offers one of the best night skies in the world. If you’ve ever heard about La Isla Bonita, well, it’s La Palma. Here you can also find a creepy scuba diving attraction, an underwater cemetery that was built almost 500 years ago. The island is incredibly beautiful and it is a great place to relax in the lush green forests. So, it’s time to explore all the islands and pick your favourite.
